Finally done up our wedding site…

Credits goes to Princess Sabrina for her wonderful wordpress theme! I took the liberty to modify the background image and removed some stuff. Hopefully, she doesn’t sue me :P.

The entire site was done on a Ubuntu machine using latest Wordpress and Gimp (photoshop equivalent). I am sorry if you find my smile a bit plastic because I really can’t smile on demand like my beautiful wife. Hey! Opposite attracts :P

Spent a great friday at Zann & Denn as my darling’s photographer. Z&D did a great job with the gown. We picked the design off a magazine and the capable folks @ Z&D handcrafted a wonderful piece of gown. Another great recommendation (last round was Josi Gems) from darling’s colleague :)

        burntdisk.jpg

Recently, I am having much fun with Ubuntu on my old Dell, I was wondering what is stopping me from having the same cool environment on my desktop PC.

Afterall, I have a couple of spare disks lying around, one of which was a replacement Maxtor drive that I managed to get out of the warranty. I had it formatted from my XP about a month ago and left it there.

Few nights ago, I connected it with my external USB SATA/IDE interface with external power, it tripped my house. I thought that it was just a faulty power adapter that blew, man I was wrong!

I tried my luck again yesterday, plugged the same Maxtor disk right into the motherboard and crank up the PC. Within a few seconds, the disk circuit board started to burn (click on picture to see the charred spot).

I will never buy a Maxtor disk again.

I surfed a few sites describing various light box/tent construction. This happens to be the easiest way to take good looking shots for small products!
