New clubbing trend - Older Ladies’ Nite

Recently St. James PowerHouse, a local disco joint was said to be discriminating the mature ladies (>= 35 yrs old) by rejecting some outspoken ladies who didn’t meet their hidden age limit. I found it rather amusing that something trivial like that (at least to me) gets on our Straits Times.
My own personal impression of clubs and disco is that after a few drinks and coupled with low-lighting, every one looked pretty. Jokes aside, I was told that SJPH once had quite an oldish crowd, which may explain their use of “young chicks tonight” tactic to attract the male “paying” crowd.
From a business viewpoint, this naive but somewhat effective strategy assumes either the ladies cannot pay for their own drinks, or that every men in the house will say “can I buy you a drink?”.
I bet there won’t be much problems if there were a mens’ night since men generally are more attractive (or richer depends how you define attractiveness) with age. I wonder if ladies would flock to clubs to ogle at men for a change (assuming a straight crowd that is).
There are many ways to attract customers without being offensive. Given that this business is very much service oriented, such a hoo-ha is like blatantly telling the ladies “you are only baits!”. Well, I guess some ladies won’t mind or be offended but obviously some do.
I don’t know much about the economics of clubbing but what I do know is “Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned”.
