Should we have our own Youtube? Mr Brown had done up a funny podcast on how it would be like if we had one. I believe it is likely to be true that we would have a “version” that is highly censored by our “anonymous heroes” aka big brothers aka men-in-white.
I believe before we can even say to ourselves “let’s make another youtube”, we should first understand and know the value of such endeavor. For Youtube, it is “broadcast yourself”; an idea so simple yet powerful.
It’s not like Singaporeans didn’t tried. HWZ is a modest success story. Wholivesnearyou.com is not too bad, quite a nice idea to have such localized social network. A more recent success is Who’s going which I believe is a local spin off from the whosgoing.com (I could be wrong since whosgoing.com is not specific to clubbing activities alone). I believe the founders are making good money and having fun clubbing at the same time. But note the adjective “localized”.
If anyone should attempt in anyway to create something in cyberspace. It will be good to know what the web was, is and becoming… And importantly how it can change our lifestyle, the way we watch new shows, songs and exchange information.
Take a look at . I found it off Chris Anderson’s (author of the book: The Long Tail) website.
